The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) promotes the right of every woman, man and child to enjoy a life of health and equal opportunity. UNFPA supports countries in using population data for policies and programmes to reduce poverty and to ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every birth is safe, every young person is free of HIV/AIDS, and every girl and woman is treated with dignity and respect.
UNFPA promotes the right of all individuals to develop to their full potential. To exercise this right, all people, especially women, need access to information and services on reproductive health, including family planning and sexual health, to enable them to make informed and voluntary choices and decisions.
UNFPA Presence in Bosnia and Herzegovina
UNFPA in Bosnia and Herzegovina focuses on three main goals: Sexual and Reproductive Health; Gender Equality; and Population and Development Strategies prioritising youth.
Main part of the SRH program supported by assuring equal access to services SRH adolescents/ youth and prevention programs for reproductive health of women.
Ingredients SRH programs are focused on supporting the government and the population census, the creation of social policy for older persons and to strengthen mechanisms for collecting data for policies based on evidence. Component Program of Gender Equality focuses on preventing and combating RBN, through the establishment of mechanisms addressed BiH.
UNFPA is particularly focused on the objectives of Programme of Action (PA) International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), view (ICPD +15), while clearly follows the principles of human rights. UNFPA has created strong partnerships with governmental and nongovernmental entities throughout the country.
