Joint Workplans of UN in BiH Presented
On 29 and 30 November the United Nations in Bosnia and Herzegovina presented the draft 2017-2018 Joint Work Plans of the UN to institutional partners of different levels of government, in support of the implementation of the One United Nations Programme and Common Budgetary Framework BiH 2015-2019 (UN Development Assistance Framework – UNDAF).
UN Working Groups prepared and presented four draft Joint Work Plans based on agencies' bilateral discussions, which are based on UNDAF's four focus areas:
- The rule of law and human security
- Sustainable and equitable development and employment
- Social inclusion: education, social protection, child protection and health
- The empowerment of women
The main goal of presentations taking place at UN House in Sarajevo was to inform domestic partners about planned activities and results, and budget estimates for the period 2017-2018. Events were also used to present compliance of planned activities with the UNDAF and BiH's development priorities through a joint consultation process.
Presentation of the draft work plans is done in line with a consultation plan for the preparation of biennial joint work plans adopted by the Joint Steering Committee of BiH and the UN. In accordance with the adopted plan, domestic institutional partners will conduct a more detailed review of the draft Joint Work Plans, with the possibility to submit comments, suggestions and recommendations, which will allow the drafting of the final version of the Joint Work Plans and their submission to the Joint Steering Committee for final and formal review, and adoption (which is planned to take place in February 2017).
